LeverageTek.ca is owned and operated by Leverage Technology Resources Inc., operating under the names LeverageTek IT Solutions and LeverageTek (hereinafter referred to throughout this statement as “LeverageTek”).
LeverageTek respects the privacy of our applicants', contractors', and term-employees’ personal information and want to assure you that any personal information we collect from you is protected with safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the personal information. To ensure compliance with Canada’s privacy laws, LeverageTek has appointed a Privacy Officer who will establish and maintain LeverageTek’s personal information collection, use and disclosure policies and procedures. LeverageTek’s Privacy Officer will be available to answer your privacy related questions and will investigate and determine any privacy related complaints filed in writing. Accountability
LeverageTek is committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals who provide their personal information. We will not collect, use or disclose the personal information of individuals without individual’s knowledge and consent in accordance to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
Identifying purposes
The purpose(s) for collecting any information from our Users will be identified before the information is collected. In general, LeverageTek collects personal information only for the following purposes:
- To provide requested information.
- To establish and maintain responsible commercial relations with customers and candidates and to provide ongoing service.
- To understand customer needs and preferences. For example, to maintain a record of the LeverageTek services you have purchased in the past.
- To meet legal and regulatory requirements. For example, LeverageTek may collect personal information from you to satisfy government regulations, i.e.: tax.
- To evaluate candidates and applicants who have submitted personal information to LeverageTek for employment and/or contract consideration purposes.
Privacy Rights
From January 1, 2004, all businesses engaged in commercial activities must comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and the Canadian Standards Association Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information, which it incorporates. The Act affords rights concerning the privacy of personal information.
“Personal information” is information about an identifiable person. Personal information includes information that relates to their personal characteristics (e.g., gender, age, income, home address or phone number, ethnic background, family status), their health (e.g., health history, health conditions, health services received by them) or their activities and views (e.g., religion, politics, opinions expressed by an individual, an opinion or evaluation of an individual). Personal information is to be contrasted with business information (e.g., an individual’s business address and telephone number), which is not protected by the Act.
Purpose for Collecting Personal Information
LeverageTek only collects personal information, by lawful means, necessary to fulfill the identified purposes. Personal information is collected for the following purposes:
- To assist them (job seekers) in joining our organization or placing them into another organization on a contractual or permanent employment basis.
We obtain consent to use the personal information for the purpose listed above at the time of collection of information. Individuals have the option of not providing the personal information or to decline use of their personal information used for the purpose listed above.
Disclosure and Retention of Personal Information
LeverageTek will never trade or sell personal information.
Accuracy:
LeverageTek makes every reasonable effort to ensure that the personal information it collects and uses is accurate and complete, updating it periodically. You can help by ensuring that we are informed of any changes to your information, such as a change in address or telephone number. LeverageTek will modify the information as required, upon written request by the individual to whom the information relates. Employees are to direct their requests to Human Resources, while sub-contractor requests are directed to Contract Management in the Finance department.
Safeguards:
LeverageTek is committed to ensuring the protection of your personal information. Security measures are in place to protect our offices, the computer systems, and your files from unauthorized access and use. The safeguards vary and depend on the sensitivity of the information being protected. A higher level of protection is used to safeguard more sensitive information. Such safeguards may take the form of building alarm systems, locked filing cabinets, and restricted access to information (physical, electronic control devices, technological tools such as passwords, encryption, firewalls, etc.).
Protection of Personal Information
Personal information is stored in our database. Electronic information stored in computers is password protected. All personal information contained in paper format is destroyed by shredding. Electronic information is destroyed by deletion.
Access to Personal Information
Individuals are entitled to access their personal information which is in our possession. If an individual wants to see their personal information, they are welcome to contact us. We will provide access to personal information (some exceptions might apply) and provide any assistance required in understanding the nature of personal information that is in our possession.
We may ask that the individual put their request in writing. If we are unable to give access, we will inform the member or donor within 30 days, in writing, with the reasons for not giving access.
General Website Policies
Automatic Data Collection
LeverageTek collects information about the a) type of browser used, b) date and time of each visit, and c) internet protocol address of the locations to which each visitor linked for each visit made to our Web Site. This information is for statistical reporting purposes only. LeverageTek makes no attempt to link these Internet protocol addresses with the identity of individuals visiting the Web Site.
Cookies
Cookies are small data files stored on your computer to allow information flow. We do not use cookies to store your personal information. OR Cookies.
